Change diesel filter on Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 DI-D 2013-2015
Fuel filter guide with pictures
Changing diesel fuel filter on the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 DI-D. This guide applies for the 2013-2015 models. Mitsubishi OEM part 1770A253. Estimated time 40 min.
The diesel filter is located in the back right side.
Top of the fuel filter is visible. Start with removing the air filter box.
Disconnect plug to the air flow sensor and disconnect the cable attached to the air filter box.

Disconnected plug.
Loosen the metall clamp securing the rubber tube to the air filter box by turning counter clockwise with a Philips screwdriver.
Loosen the ruber hoose connected to the air filter box.
The air filter box is secured with one bolt. Use a 10 mm socket with extension to loosen bolt.
Loosen using a socket wrench with an extension and a 10 mm pipe.

Remove the air filter box to get better access to the diesel filter.
Loosen and remove the metal shield surounding the diesel filter. It is attacted with two nuts.
Nut on the left side securing the metal shield. Use a smaller socket wrench with a 12 mm long pipe to release it.
Nut on the right side securing the metal shield and the filter. Note that the fuel lines to the filter is disconneted to get a better view of the location. It might be easier to disconnect the fuel lines after the shield is removed.
Use a 1/4″ socket wrench with a 12 mm long pipe to release the nut.
Disconnect the cable attected to the top of the diesel filter. Now the metal shield and the diesel fuel filter can be removed. Make sure that the fuel lines are disconnected before removing the filter.

Disconnect the cable and loosen the clamp before the diesel filter is removed from the filter house.
Diesel filter removed. Turn counter clockwise to loosen the filter.
Release the filter sensor on the bottom of the filter. Turn counter clock wise.
Replace the o-ring on the sensor. A new o-ring is normally supplied togheter with the a new diesel filter.

New filter mounted on the filter house. It is recommented to fill the filter with diesel before it is installed.
Place the filter back. It is easier to attach the fuel lines to the diesel filter before the metal bracket is mounted.
Connect the shield and filter on the left side.
Connect the shield and filter on the right side.
Attach the cables back to the filter house.
Attach the air filter box and secure the bolt. Attach the ruber house and secure it. Connect the cable to the air flow sensor.
Ready to go. Connect the battery and start the engine.
